Adventist professional couple looking for an after school nanny for their two children ages 12 y/o boy and  5 y/o girl.  Job to start ASAP part-time as needed roughly 6-12/ months, 4-10hrs/day,  20-30 hrs a week. Role includes picking children up from school in Norcross, Ga by 6pm and bringing them to their home in the Northlake/Oak Grove area of Atlanta/Dekalb County.  Occasionally taking them too after school activities,  preparing dinner, helping with homework putting them to bed, light housework (children’s laundry, placing dishes in the dishwasher, clearing table after dinner etc.) and awaiting their mother’s return.

  • The Generation Hospitality Training Program is recruiting young adults who are interested in obtaining training with the intent of working at a hotel,  while gaining overall professional development I.e. resume editing, mock interviews, job shadowing , hospitality certification, etc.  Young adults who can benefit from this opportunity are encouraged to participate in this FREE hospitality training program.   The next class will begin on Monday, August 18th, and it will run from Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the City of Refuge (1300 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, Atlanta, GA).   Participants will receive a stipend of $100 per week.  They will learn hospitality and customer service skills; meet HR Managers /General Managers of hotels; engage in job shadowing; and participate in mock interviews, hotel site visits, and resume and cover letter building workshops.  Participants will participate in one-on-one job placement sessions to secure employment in the hospitality industry and have access to the alumni network of former students who are now working at hotels around Atlanta  Candidates can apply at http://www.generation.org.

  • Southern Crescent Technical College is offering Six Sigma training in the Fall of 2019 on its Griffin Campus (501 Varsity Road, Griffin, GA).  Yellow Belt training will be provided from Monday, September 23rd through Friday, September 27th, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Green Belt training will be provided beginning from Monday, October 7th to Friday, October 11th, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and Black Belt training will be provided Monday, November 4ththrough Friday, November 8th, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and from Monday, December 2nd to Friday, December 6th, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.   • The Urban League of Greater Atlanta is currently accepting referrals for its UYEP Young Fathers Program, focused on young adult fathers ages 18-24 with current or prior involvement with the criminal justice system. The program will provide the program participants with access to individualized case management, career advisement in high demand industry sectors, educational enhancement opportunities, credential attainment, mentoring, career readiness training and employment opportunities.  The “young father” is required to have charges adjudicated.  The goals of UYEP Young Fathers is to promote responsible parenting and successful reintegration into the community utilizing evidence-based practices that lead to healthy child development, positive relationships with young fathers and their children.  In addition,  improved interactions amongst young fathers and their family, community members and reduce recidivism.  Supportive Services assistance may include MARTA Cards and stipends may be available at certain intervals during the program based upon eligibility and successful participation.   Contact Ebony White, Program Manager, with any questions you may have at ewhite@ulgatl.org or at 404-449-6286.
