Adventist professional couple looking for an after school nanny for their two children ages 12 y/o boy and  5 y/o girl.  Job to start ASAP part-time as needed roughly 6-12/ months, 4-10hrs/day,  20-30 hrs a week. Role includes picking children up from school in Norcross, Ga by 6pm and bringing them to their home in the Northlake/Oak Grove area of Atlanta/Dekalb County.  Occasionally taking them too after school activities,  preparing dinner, helping with homework putting them to bed, light housework (children’s laundry, placing dishes in the dishwasher, clearing table after dinner etc.) and awaiting their mother’s return.

o   The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Works Program (snapworks@ging.org) at Goodwill provides funds for able bodied adults who are eligible to receive food stamps. 

o   The Good Transitions: Young Adult (DOL-ETA) Program (goodtransitions@ging.org) at Goodwill provides funds for individuals 18-24 who have had involvement with the criminal justice system in high-poverty, high-crime areas. 

  • The Urban League of Greater Atlanta hosts weekly YouthBuild Program Information Sessions each Tuesday at 1:00 PM and Wednesday at 6:30 PM, with the exception of state and federal holidays, at Atlanta Technical College (1560 Metropolitan Parkway, SW, Building M, Atlanta, GA).  The YouthBuild pre-apprenticeship program offers a nationally recognized construction certification, career readiness training, leadership development training, GED or High School diploma preparation, dual enrollment in a college program and assistance with job placement.  Interested young adults must reside in Fulton County and be between the ages of 16 and 24.   • The Generation Hospitality Training Program is recruiting young adults who are interested in obtaining training with the intent of working at a hotel,  while gaining overall professional development I.e. resume editing, mock interviews, job shadowing , hospitality certification, etc.  Young adults who can benefit from this opportunity are encouraged to participate in this FREE hospitality training program.   The next class will begin on Monday, August 18th, and it will run from Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the City of Refuge (1300 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, Atlanta, GA).   Participants will receive a stipend of $100 per week.  They will learn hospitality and customer service skills; meet HR Managers /General Managers of hotels; engage in job shadowing; and participate in mock interviews, hotel site visits, and resume and cover letter building workshops.  Participants will participate in one-on-one job placement sessions to secure employment in the hospitality industry and have access to the alumni network of former students who are now working at hotels around Atlanta  Candidates can apply at http://www.generation.org.

  • The Urban League of Greater Atlanta is currently accepting referrals for its UYEP Young Fathers Program, focused on young adult fathers ages 18-24 with current or prior involvement with the criminal justice system. Southern Crescent’s adult education department prepares a competitive workforce in Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties through educational programs that deliver 21st century skills which are designed to be responsive to the individual needs of the learner. Classes in Butts County are offered from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Mondays through Thursdays.  Classes in Fayette County are offered from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Mondays through Thursdays, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM on Mondays through Thursdays, and from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Classes in Jasper County are offered from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Classes in Lamar County are offered from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Classes in Spalding County are offered on Mondays through Thursdays at the following time intervals: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  Classes in Upson County are offered from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Mondays through Thursdays, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  To register for GED prep classes, prospective students can click here or call 770-229-3176.

  • Tommy Nobis Center is an authorized Ticket to Work provider and is now accepting applications. Ticket to Work is a federally-funded employment program designed for people who want to improve their earning potential and are committed to preparing for long-term success in the workplace. The service is free for individuals age 18 through 64 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
